Vulnerable Histories

Introducing Sine Screen’s on-going curatorial project <Vulnerable Histories>, a series of public events that explores the marginal histories of East & South East Asia and beyond.

From 1960s archive films by avant-garde filmmakers to artists experimenting with speculative storytelling and new technologies, this season of  Vulnerable Histories brings together the works of over 40 multidisciplinary artists from various geopolitical backgrounds.

How do we document disappearance or erasure that is still on-going? At what point does the past solidify into something we call history? And who is afforded a place in such mythologies? The season raises urgent questions around memory that seeks to disentangle the linear relationship between past, present and future.

Featuring a series of screenings, artist talks and critical workshops across London that seeks ways of activating these histories, running from now until May 2025.

Programme generously supported by public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
